Water Y-Strainer
The Water Y-Strainer is a small-sized device used to remove solids from liquids. It can protect compressors, pumps, other equipment and instruments to work and operate normally, achieving the effect of stabilizing the process and ensuring safety. In addition, it is also of great significance for improving product quality. The Y-Strainer series is suitable for steam, air, kerosene, water, weakly corrosive gases and liquids.
Structural Features of Water Y-Strainer
Easy to use
Compact structure, requiring only a small installation space
Simple structure and convenient maintenance
Stable operation of various equipment
Double-layer filter screen can capture very small dirt particles
Large flow area results in small pressure drop, which has no impact on equipment operation
According to the pressure and flow characteristics of the system pipeline, the Water Y-Strainer is installed at different positions, and its structural type and filter element material selection are also different. In the water pressure system, the Water Y-Strainer is mainly installed on the suction pipeline, pressure pipeline and low-pressure pipeline of the pump. Due to the different pressure and flow rates of the above three types of pipelines, the selection of the Water Y-Strainer should be considered separately.
Installed on the suction pipeline: To ensure the normal operation of the pump, the suction pipeline has a certain degree of vacuum. The filter is required to have strong filtering capacity, with a flow rate more than twice the pump flow rate, and small pressure loss (usually not exceeding 0.03MPa). It should be installed below the liquid level of the water tank during installation to prevent air from entering the system. Generally, a Y-Strainer with slightly lower filtering precision is selected, using a mesh or wire-wound anti-corrosion filter element.
Installed on the pressure pipeline to protect system components: The filter element and shell materials are required to have strong anti-corrosion ability, high pressure resistance, sufficient mechanical strength, high filtering precision, and can have relatively large pressure loss. It is installed after the relief valve or in parallel with the safety valve, but the opening pressure of the safety valve should be slightly lower than the maximum allowable pressure difference of the Water Y-Strainer. Generally, a depth-type Y-Strainer is selected, using a stainless steel filter element with high filtering precision.
Installed on the low-pressure pipeline, mainly to ensure the cleanliness of the working medium returning to the water tank: A low-pressure Water Y-Strainer with general filtering precision can be used. The filter can only be used in one direction and cannot be installed on pipelines where the liquid flow direction changes frequently. If a filter must be installed in this section of the pipeline, it should be used in conjunction with a check valve.
