3-Piece Flanged Ball Valves: Introduction & Technical Parameters

Compared with 2-piece ball valves, 3-piece flanged ball valves have an additional intermediate valve body connection structure. They are also an upgraded version of 3-piece internal threaded ball valves, with the connection method upgraded from threaded connection to flanged connection, which facilitates the installation, disassembly and maintenance of the valve with pipelines. The valve adopts two sealing forms: polytetrafluoroethylene and para-polyphenylene, suitable for use in media below 250 degrees Celsius. The valve body materials include WCB, 304 stainless steel, etc., and appropriate materials can be selected according to different working conditions and media.

The essential difference among one-piece, two-piece and three-piece ball valves is the structure of the valve body.
One-Piece Ball Valve
It is a reduced bore valve. The ball is fixed by a single plug, resulting in relatively low flow capacity.
Two-Piece Ball Valve
It adopts full bore design. The ball is clamped and secured by two halves of the valve body. Maintenance is relatively complicated. The tightness of the middle bolts is critical, which directly determines whether gas leakage occurs. It has favorable sealing performance.
Three-Piece Ball Valve
Similar to two-piece ball valves, it is also full bore. Different from the two-piece type, it has an independent middle body, which is clamped by two flanged end bodies on both sides. It features superior pressure resistance, easy installation, and convenient disassembly, maintenance and internal cleaning.
